Lights Out

Our power went out last night.  It was a wind storm and it was really cold outside.  The temperature quickly plummeted inside our very poorly insulated house.  H was afraid that the kids would get too cold in their own beds, so we piled them into ours and threw on the blankets.

(That dark blue polka dot blanket next to L is Baby.)

H went and slept on the couch covered in more blankets and I climbed in with the kids.  Between the five of us in one bed and all of the blankets, we were soon hot and sweating.  The power came back on in the early morning, but we had definitely kept warm without it.

Just hanging out with Dad

I'm not sure how Baby is not sliding off the couch, but he looks content enough.

Leather Owl

My Dad's amazing.  He made this owl for me out of leather.  When he was out here in November, we put it together in a shadow box. It now hangs in my family room where I get to be amazed by it every day.

Going, going...gone

First he lost one tooth...
then three more in succession!
I love this boy.

Brother and Sister

Too often our house is filled with noise, whether it's playing, yelling, fighting, chasing, or just general din.

These two used to be the best of friends. Then W went off to school and M learned to exercise her free will more often, and they now fight as often as they play together.  Of course I love hearing them play together.  But even then, it's usually just as loud as the fighting, and sometimes I honestly can't tell the difference with some of their games.  So when I catch them in a quiet moment like this, it warms my heart beyond words.  It reminds me they still have a special bond and I hope they always will.

Roses

I was having a bad week.

H came home from work with roses just to let me know he loves me.

The roses helped.  It was just what I needed and I didn't even know it.  Every time I see the pictures, it reminds me how lucky I am to have him in my life.  Thanks husband.

Bath Time

You can't really tell it from these pictures, but G loves his bath time.  The older kids love it too.  They beg to be allowed to help.  I usually let them rinse him off, though I often end up as wet as Baby when M is in charge of the water.  He is still getting baths in the kitchen sink and we have a pull-out faucet.  She tends to wield it much like a weapon.

He is huge into his feet right now and delights in the sensation of the water on his toes. I still love the way he turns his head to drink the water when it is around his face.

I love the way he tries to catch the water in his fist as it flows out of the faucet.  I love how much more aware he is; how he waits patiently for the water to warm up. I pretty much love everything about him.
