Marvelous Mathematician

W had his class awards for the 1st grade.

I'm so proud of him. He sat still the whole time and it was hot and stuffy and uncomfortable in the room. It was a long wait, too, because everybody got an award.

He received the award of Marvelous Mathematician.

I realized that I sent him to school looking like a hoodlum with a skull shirt and sporting his mohawk.

I am so grateful for his 1st grade teacher.  Mr. M ws so good with W. He accepted him for who he is and encouraged him to be better. He made W the Math Wizard and had him help the other kids who needed it. It was a way to help with W's wiggles at the end of the day. He took what could have been a negative and turned it into a positive experience for W. Everytime I talked to Mr. M, he would remind me of how smart and bright W is.  Of course, I know this, but it helps to hear it from his teacher.  He boosted his self-esteem by focusing on the positive aspects of my boy and made him want to be better.  Thanks, Mr. M.
