Happy Independence Day!

July 4, 2009 - We started out the day with a pancake breakfast at our church. We were running late so we missed the flag raising - well, we saw it from the car on our way into the parking lot - but the pancakes were good!

Later that night, we headed out for the fireworks at our local community college in ridiculously cute outfits.

While waiting, there was a really nice band (no picture, I know - you're heartbroken) which Mom really enjoyed.

Even better, there were popsicles,

and funnel cakes,

and snacks galore.

Of course, Mom forgot the wipes or any sort of napkin.

L got cold, so spent the time snuggled up with Dad under the blanket.

Some people had these flashing tubes from a radio station. We missed out and W felt very bereft. Our "blanket neighbors" took pity and gave the kids their tubes which promptly turned into weapons.

Once the fireworks started, L still wasn't having fun, because they were too loud.

She got used to it, sort of.

M loved the fireworks. She kept saying, "Fireworks make me happy!!"

All in all, it was a great day.
